These okame cherry trees are the first to bloom in Georgia. Sometimes as early as the first week in February, when it’s still pretty cold. There used to be a more purple one on the main street in the neighborhood, but sadly they cut it down. (In fact they cut down a bunch of yoshino cherry trees ages ago and it still makes me mad) The okames are always a good marker of the coming spring, and that I should bug someone to hangout and take photos!
