What an outrageous combo the D700 and 200mm f/2 is! I’ve been having fun with it on my morning walks this spring and the occasional portrait session when I have my STR/STAMINA points maxed out for the day. From a beauty and technical level this might be the best lens I have, since it draws such a pretty picture with the least amount of chromatic aberration (color fringing) that I’ve ever seen. When I was editing the portraits I noticed that the metal spines of the photography umbrella had zero purple fringe or blooming at f/2. Meanwhile the Canon 85mm 1.2L is definitely a color distortion party when shooting outside at or near maximum aperture (which is its charm, more on that in another post).
It’s been an odd spring here in Georgia. The relentless cold didn’t make for a peach blossom explosion like last year, but the white yoshino cherry trees were crazy and full this year in Conyers and here in Suwanee.
And yes I do have other photos with the aperture stopped down to actually show the cherry blossoms, this specific post is just to show the 200mm f2’s wide open awesomeness! 🙂
