I finally got these in yesterday, some ZNO Mini Accordion 3 x 3″ (8 x 8 cm) books. You can also get them in vertical format in 3.5 x 2.5″ size. With the Pro price I got them for $4.50 each. The shipping cost and time has been a bit more than normal, but what else is new in 2025?
I wanted to do a test run of these mini books to see if they would be good cost effective gifts or promo material that I could leave behind.
I opted for a cream linen cover, and it comes in a plastic case and that in turn is shipped in a plastic bag. Not bad packaging.
The “main” side of the book has 6 views, and the reverse side has 4 views. There are many cover material options. If you opt for the hard cover option you can put a photo on the front/back of the book. There’s only one paper choice, Lite Paper Art, and the printing method is ink jet/giclee. I would say it’s pretty good. Obviously if you get up close you will see the printer dots, but the color and blacks look nice. The quality is better than any traditional press printed books (i.e. laser printed Office Depot, et al)
Obviously, the mini book stretched out is a foot and a half, but collapses quite nice, and looks good on a bookshelf.

So here’s the bulk of my first test order: 4 3×3″ mini accordion books that I plan on leaving behind at a venue so potential clients have a look or even keep. It’s a bit of a pricey business card, but obviously not much in comparison to most grown up expenses.

Here are the mini books next to compact cameras for a size comparison. These are definitely small enough to keep in the bag next to my other show and tell books.

Will I order more? Of course! The price is good for me, as the creative potential is quite high. Besides photobooks you can give to friends, here are other things one could make:
- a mini comic book (with finished work on the 6 panels, and pencils/rough sketches on the back)
- long running art tableau
- mock CD art booklet (lo fi of course!)
- Chinese landscape painting with calligraphy
- an entire 2D Super Mario Bros Level
- an evolution timeline of JDM cars
- a blank slate one that you could draw on or collect signatures/quotes from friends
Or heck pretty much anything you want.

I also made another 6 x 6″ Lay Flat book as a possible leave behind too. Still thinking about it, as this one ended up costing a lot more.
