Was driving around this morning location scouting and saw these amazing flowering apricot trees. In the dead Rite Aid across from Atlanta Toyota on Pleasant Hill! These trees have seen better days, but still so pretty. It’s crazy how there’s not a single leaf on those branches and are just pure blossoms.
From my recon, the okame cherry trees still have buds and I found literally one single pink flower in bloom, so they are on their way. I don’t know what the unseasonably warm weather this Feb will do to their duration, but hopefully I can use them later this month for shoots. Oddly enough though, some of the yoshino cherry trees are getting to almost peak right now.
I’ve been using the old and unwanted Nikon D40 lately, and guys seriously, it’s a great early gen CCD DSLR with probably some of the best color out there. It’s obviously slow for event photography, but it’s faster than almost all point and shoot film cameras that’s for sure. Many of the pictures are tuned in camera with no editing. That was back when the world didn’t cash in on film simulations. And oh the special ability of this camera is that it works at 1/500 sec with the popup flash. That means you can really darken the background and sky in casual film like photos where you want the direct flash to be the main star in addition to your subject. Folks have already snatched up digicams, soon they’ll come for old DSLRs.
I wish Gwinnett had planted a lot of these old fruit trees in random parks and woods back in the day. But now they’re just random pretty things that only get about a week or two to shine while the rest of the commuting world could care less about as they drive on by.
