Dia de los Muertos Fotos / Day of the Dead Photos

What a lovely day at Oakland Cemetery.  Another great turnout for this insanely new popular festival in Atlanta.  Here is my photo story from a short stay!  If you like the pics and want to shoot in the future, just LMK! We were late because there was no close parking as usual, and in my normal spot some big truck had blocked the way.  Luckily after circling the entire cemetery (which is quite large) a spot opened up down the street.  Today’s weather was nice and gloomy, and a bit rainy but that didn’t stop the crazy amount of festival goers.

The first street we walked, we were lucky to run into this big and lovely folklorico dance group!  Thanks everyone for posing!

Near the staging area for the contestants was this really fotogenic grave plot.  Thanks to the spirits for letting us enjoy life and photography in such a pretty area.  Again, this fall season has been quite odd in Georgia, with both changing leaves and spring flowers.

Oh how could I forget about my gear loadout?  Today I travelled a bit light (well light for me) and only brought:

Canon R8 + 85mm f/1.2 | Fuji GFX50S + 50mm 1.8 | Olympus E-M1 + 7-14mm

I didn’t bring a single Nikon and the Olympus was to make up for the fact last time I didn’t have an ultrawide for the amazing and ornate ofrendas.

Thanks Thomas for also bringing along and letting me use a legendary Canon lens, the EF 135mm f/2.  After all these years I’d never ever tried it out, and what better place than with the lovely catrinas.  I’m definitely more of 105mm or 85mm person, but here’s a few shots of what this combo produced:
