Had a free day so I went to the Conyers Cherry Blossom festival to see the lovely trees, watch the group perform, and practice with my random gear. One of which is a new Canon lens I bought on a whim the day before.
Even though the GPS always suggests 85 to 20 to get to Conyers, I always take the back way through Grayson. The sunrise this morning was crazy vibrant. You’d think in “sleepy” old Georgia you could just pull over on any country road to take photos, but nope the amount of cars and people out driving even the early morning is astounding. So here are some photos while sitting at the red light.
On this oddly chilly morning I stopped by the umbrella alley to get some shots with the Canon 16mm 2.8 RF. The lens is crazy wide and since it is a Full Frame lens will draw life (and people) differently from the 7-14mm m4/3 Panasonic lens that I have. That smaller lens that I’ve used for a long while now is similar to a “14-28mm” on FF but draws life in such a cartoonish way. The Canon is oddly affordable in relative photography terms. I think this lens is definitely a keeper.
I then drove about 2 miles south of downtown to a park that has a long line of yoshino cherry tress. It’s located conveniently next to the road, and was the original location of the festival ages ago.
Here I am running to pick up a camera before the self timer clicked off a few frames. Once again someone always wants to strike up a conversation when I’m out and about taking photos. A nice lady exercising asked for a photoshoot with her iPhone.
On this day the trees were past peak but I’ll definitely have to remember this spot for next year.
