Hmong Women Resource Alliance – Volleyball Fundraiser – 3-07-2020

March 7. 2020  |  Monroe, GA

It sure was brisk this morning for the volleyball tournament, but glad I got up early and made it out to Monroe.  Everyone was competitive and the spikes were serious.  Hopefully this is the last cold day for “winter” in Georgia, as the spring forward time switch is Sunday.  The blooming cherry trees near where I parked is a good sign of a better season for color and pretty pictures.  Congrats to Ms. Yi and her group for organizing a fun way to raise funds for their Hmong Organization.

This is some of the best thum mahk houng / papaya salad I’ve ever had! The sauce wasn’t based on our normal fermented fish, and the green tomatoes and roasted chillies and peanuts really give it an interesting taste.

I ate almost all of it. Just look at that saucy goodness. I was thinking to myself, if only I had some rice vermicelli to go with this.
