This lovely vintage Canon S200 Elph digicam was thrifted out in New Mexico! Seeing as how these things are snatched up so quick by savvy resellers I’m glad we visited the store at the right time. This ancient 2 Megapixel imager came with a 256MB (yes Megabytes!) CF card that still had some photos from the previous owner. The images were of a HS graduation from back in 2014.
I can see why it ended up at the thrift store because this camera is a bit glitchy! As in the sensor suffers from light tears and takes a long while to “warm up” before being able to properly expose an image. As of today it’s only glitchy on half the screen. When it’s able to take a picture though, they still have that 2002 CCD glory and the images look fine. Or as fine as they can with the purple color cast that I actually dig. With film you sometimes want light leaks and other surprises, so it’s unique to have something like this in a working digital camera.

Canon S200 Elph and Macbook – a 2 Megapixel Digicam from 2002! | Shot with a Nikon V1
This camera is about the size of a pack of cards, solid and heavy and with looks that really make me appreciate Canon’s product design of the early 2000’s. As a fashion accessory it looks really nice too.
