Caesars Head State Park, in nearby South Carolina?!
This was our freezing cold trip to South Carolina on Saturday!
The first stop was White Horse Flea Market right outside Greenville. The place is huge with many stalls and outside vendors. Everything was a bit pricey and I didn’t find any comic books or video games BUT there was a vendor selling FRIED GRASSHOPPERS! Right next to some gummi bears. 🤔 The grasshoppers were a bit too sour in my opinion, with the powder that normally goes over mangoes.

2nd stop was Downtown Greenville, which is very nice! Reminds me of sections of Midtown ATL. The park with the suspension bridge that goes over the river had an Xmas village festival too. The surrounding areas still had some fall color, and I’m sure many people have photo shoots there.
3rd stop was a Thai restaurant called Kannika, off Haywood road. We had: Tom Yum, Pineapple Fried Rice, Drunken Noodle, and Basil Stir Fry. I think the restaurant is more tuned for the Burmese style, in fact they even have Falam Fried Rice on the menu. The Tom Yum soup was great for this super cold day.
Tom Yum Soup (a bit sweet, but this was my favorite). So good on a cold day.
Pineapple Fried Rice. The flavoring was a bit on the “Indian” side and bit drier than what we are used to, but still good.
Pad Kaprow (Basil Stir Fry). Hmm this is definitely different than restaurant style basil stir fry. It’s more like home style simple comfort basil stir fry with chicken. Still though, I liked it.
Drunken noodle. This was super sweet. I could see balancing it out with a chili pepper and vinegar sauce.
4th stop was a drive north through Traveller’s Rest to Caesars Head Park. The road up to the 3,208ft mountain is pretty windy, I think with more switchbacks and hairpins than the road to Brasstown Bald. It was crazy cold up there but the overlook view is worth it. The granite mountain and lake reminds me of spots out west.
5th stop was on the way back to I85. In Easley there’s an outsider art/Xmas village called Tiny Town, which apparently is a local attraction. All in someone’s front yard! They even had merch, a coffee shop, and a big firepit that felt amazing.
Too bad it gets dark so fast during the winter as I wanted to also make stops at a Book Warehouse in Easley and stop by Clemson. Perhaps next mini adventure. So crazy how all this is just one state over with only 2 hours to Greenville to start this route.
