Finally made it out to Charlie’s Collectibles in Stone Mnt, off Memorial Drive. This is such a cool place. Imagine an antique mall, but every stall and vendor is pop culture, anime, comics, and video game, etc merch for sale. In the back you can play card games and video games too. So basically it’s like a mini anime market and con, but it’s open every weekend and it’s FREE admission! This weekend’s theme was the AfroNerd Culture Con. I met a lot of super nice and talented creators. The comic book panels were really great, and spoke about the challenges of being a minority creator, and just the struggles of getting motivated to create and market your art. One of the young actresses from the first season of Cobra Kai was there too, she was really nice. Very fun cosplay show, and it reminded me of the honesty of how the scene was back in the day, not like the circus social media stunts that cons have turned into (Dcon, Momocon, AWA, I’m looking in your direction…). 😉 To finish my fun African themed adventure I got food from Tastee Afrikana. The gentleman outside was actually grilling the meat that went into my Chicken Jollof.
