Lao New Year 2553: Wat Lao Riverdale

Tech Notes: 24-105mm IS on the Canon, 70-200 VR on the Nikon, and infrared Sigma.  Great combo.  Maybe since I’ve been playing Final Fantasy XIII so much, with its 3 person fighting structure, figuring out tools for the bag is like setting up your characters for a battle.  Cars and cameras are similar and oddly enough cameras are […]

LAY-OCEAN?

Notes: Been a while since I posted anything Lao related…as you all know by now, I started off as the typical Lao kid holding the sign with his name in the refugee camp, was lucky enough to resettle in the good ol’ U S and A, grew up with two cultures, studied art, went back in time to right the […]

Royal Lao Classical Dancers Festival Lao Buddhist Temple of Nashville New Year Celebration May 25, 2008 | Antioch, TN With any dance performance you’d most likely want to capture it on video, but sadly the technology, even at HD resolutions, doesn’t have that same visual appeal to me that photographs have.  The above video is of […]

Photos: Lao New Year Wat Conley

Lao New Year 2551 (2008) | Wat Lao Pothisaram | Conley, GA For those of you whose photographic or cultural interest has been piqued by my photos, I do have to say that almost all of my work deals with beauty–the surface kind. It’s just a natural tendency of a creative person, or actually of anybody […]

LAS Fundraising Ball Photos

Of late I’ve been trumpeting the struggles of artists, but trying to promote respect for and a better understanding of my Laotian culture and heritage is also difficult. Laotian refers to the many groups of people from the small country of Laos (silent “S”).  Lao refers to the main spoken and written language as well […]

Art: Fawn Nang Keo

My drawings are on large paper, so I usually have to stitch the scans together and then I color it in sections, layer by layer.  In this particular style and method, which I’ve been using for an awful long time, you can get by with almost any version of Photoshop.  No need for the latest and […]
