While it’s rainy and cold outside, I gave myself a challenge and decided to edit some portraits that I shot with the GF 35-70mm. It’s a great sharp lens for landscapes and all around use, but I wanted to see if it could work for my brand of pretty portraits. The main part of the challenge was that I edited only the out of camera Fine level JPEGs from the GFX 50S (no raws as a starting point on any of these examples).
The JPEGs are probably the best from any camera that I own. At a resolution of 8256 x 6192 and over 20MB each they had better be. The hue shifts and color were done in Nikon Capture NX2 and finished off in Photoshop. I really like how this lens renders different than a FF 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. With this amount of light outside f/5.6 and f/8 is very usable on this GF “kit” lens.

It really is refreshing seeing the types of photos taken by these little people. The POV and perspective is definitely free of formal photography rules and full of surprise.
