Wat Buddha Bucha
3094 Rainbow Drive | Decatur, GA
Recap: A really hot June Sunday at the Thai Temple in Decatur, with a gathering of 100+ monks for a rare ceremony, the consecration of the ubosot, and the burial of the 9 boundary stones. It was a full weekend, with Thai Classical dancing, alms giving, and free food for all prepared by many volunteers from Buddhist temples ranging from Ohio to Florida. These next photos of me are from the good doctor! I don’t think I’ve been in this many photos in a while. To be honest, for a person that takes so many pictures, I’m pretty clueless when it comes to the many different religious doctrines out there. Being a curious spiritual person interested in the human consciousness is one thing, to know about each culture’s ages old traditions takes some real studying.
What did I wish for? Oh, the usual, like the ability to time travel to re-write hardships and heartaches. 😉 I’m sure there are some scriptures out there about this whole thing, life that this, being nothing more than the art of letting go. Until then, days spent around close friends and family is a pretty good existence. That and food–keep on scrolling to see the amazing Thai/Lao food that was offered to everyone from the gracious temples volunteering and cooking.
And for those that are wondering, I’ve always shot at least two cameras, because well, all brands are good in their own way, and one needs the right tools to do the job.
Bonus: All the delicious Thai/Lao food at the temple! 😀 Photos shot with probably my best “food” camera, the un-liked, now bargain bin Nikon J1!
