With all the buzz around the new Nikon Z 135mm f\/1.8 Plena, I thought I’d exercise some self control and instead tinker with my existing “free” combos.\u00a0 Here are some sample portraits and photos with the Nikon 105mm 1.4E on the Fuji GFX 50S.\u00a0 It’s mounted with a simple dummy adapter, the one I use for the old 50mm 1.8 Ai-S, so it’s manual focus and forever wide open at f\/1.4 (with Nikon E lenses the aperture is controlled electronically like Canon EF lenses).\u00a0 The lens behaves like an 85mm in terms of field of view.<\/p>\n

The lens softly vignettes on the “FF+ sensor” but that can be solved in post with the native Fuji (Silkypix) raw conversion software.\u00a0 I’ve always liked vignette in all sorts of photos and don’t think it’s that big of a visual distraction.\u00a0 On this day in Atlanta the weather was surprisingly cool and it was super cloudy without any sunbeams.\u00a0 Photos are pretty much out of camera with the usual more cool and blue auto WB of Fujifilm cameras.\u00a0 Not edited to my final typical bright and saturated level, but that’s okay since the OOC shots shows off the tremendous dynamic range of the GFX sensor.<\/p>\n

Big thanks to Vivian for taking the time to dress all pretty and come out a bit for photos! As I always say, makeup, hair, clothes, model, location, lighting, etc etc are way more important factors than the brand of camera or the price level.<\/p>\n
