Congrats to the Chin Burmese Community of Atlanta for organizing such a fun event!  This was my first time attending, as I’ve missed it every single year.  It was really neat to be able to document this for one of the newest refugee immigrant communities here in Atlanta.<\/h5>\n
I started off life in the U.S. as a refugee myself, so it’s so fascinating to be able to see it somewhat from the outside.  To see a new group walk the same streets and begin their lives in the same situation as Lao, Cambodian and Vietnamese people in metro Atlanta all those years ago is definitely a crazy time marker for my own life.  Again, what a vibrant and colorful community full of nice people.<\/h5>\n
Seeing the smiles on the young one’s faces and genuine love for their heritage further makes me believe that Atlanta has one of the best, most diverse cultural tapestries in all of the U.S.  And did I mention all our amazing places to eat?!  Anways, here are my photos from my perspective of a guest and…a judge for the beauty pageant!!
