One of my favorite photo\/gear\/stuff bags finally fell apart the other day–a Hedgren Urban Bag I’ve had for close to ten years. \u00a0This thing’s been to Laos and random parts of the good old U S and A so I only did the logical thing and replaced it with…the same bag! \u00a0It’s amazing what the original one could hold, as I picked out various combos for the day’s outing. \u00a0For what seems to be a small bag, I’ve fit full frame DSLR’s and a flash and other random things in it. \u00a0The new one is a bit smaller, which probably won’t hold a full sized iPad snugly like my old one, but I’m glad to have an old friend back in commission. \u00a0The sheer number of adventures the old one has been on is pretty staggering. \u00a0Hate to get sentimental, but hey, why not? \u00a0With the corporations constantly telling us to upgrade, it’s good to get so much utility out of things.<\/p>\n

So here’s what would fit in this Hedgren bag for an outing where I wanted to be a little “light” on the gear. \u00a0(Of course, me being me, I would also have to have a DSLR with a 50mm.)<\/p>\n

1) Hedgren Bag<\/p>\n

2) Guava Candy. \u00a0Tamarind Candy. \u00a0Mango Gummy.<\/p>\n

3) Playstation Vita and Spelunky! \u00a0(Speaking of which I think I’m still Top 150 in the world on the Daily Challenges!)<\/p>\n

4) Nikon J1. \u00a0Still a great camera simply because it’s fast, silent, and consistently takes the best food pictures.<\/p>\n

5) Fujifilm X100. \u00a0Another whisper quiet camera, with a “35mm” equiv. lens, and one of the lowest noise sensors out there. \u00a0Surprises me every time I use it for fun snapshots.<\/p>\n

6) Band-Aids. Cold\/Allergy medicine.<\/p>\n

7) Pilot Precise Pens, the only pens I prefer for drawing and doodling.<\/p>\n

8) Blistex\/Chapstick<\/p>\n

9) 4×6″ Portfolio. \u00a0For some reason, I still prefer to show people my work via traditional means instead of the phone or tablet.<\/p>\n

10) My personal favorite photos, the ones that remind me that it’s never been about the gear, it’s about the people who come into your life. \u00a0You know, like in the movies where the protagonist only keeps a single treasured photo to look at. \u00a0It could be a future sci-fi flick and the characters\u00a0still use printed photos. \u00a0It isn’t even about film vs. digital. \u00a0Just print out these memories because they’ll probably never happen again. \u00a0\u2665 See you out there…<\/p>\n
