So I went treasure hunting at the Starlight Six Drive-In flea market, and wouldn’t you know it, my “spidey sense” alerted me to some deals at the very last booth I visited. \u00a0I’ve always enjoyed going to flea markets, ever since I was a little kid taking road trips with my dad. \u00a0He would find some old tools in which to fix cars or houses with, and I would always come home with stacks of comic books. Those were the days…perhaps it was our naive and childlike refugee optimism, but we never cared if anyone knew that we shopped at the flea market or stood in line for the reduced lunch meal tickets in school. \u00a0Funny how things change, these days modern folk only post things as if everyday is like a “greatest hits.” \u00a0I’m guilty of that too, but at least when I go to these places and I see families in that same position we were in decades ago, I think it must be nice to exist in those formative years, before things inevitably change and get complicated.<\/p>\n

Starlight Six has some pretty impressive murals\/art. \u00a0There I am above with one of my heroes, Bruce Lee. He’s definitely on my personal “Mount Rushmore,” and more so for his philosophy than one inch punch. \u00a0:o)<\/p>\n

I saved from camera purgatory some interesting items that can definitely be used in the arsenal. \u00a0The find of the day was an old Nikkormat EL (Nikon Camera) with a manual focus Nikkor 28mm f\/2.8 Ai from probably the mid to late 1970’s. \u00a0This particular focal length is pleasing because it is plenty wide, but does not distort people as much as a 24mm and gets more of the environment as opposed to a 35mm. \u00a0The “vintage” image quality is similar to the 50mm f\/1.4 Ai-S that I use pretty much all the time.<\/p>\n

The other camera I bought was a somewhat modern Canon film camera from the 90’s, a Rebel X. \u00a0This thing is really light with a kit lens that most would laugh at. \u00a0Mount that on to a full frame digital camera though, and the images will surprise anyone obsessed with thousand dollar lenses. \u00a0Best part of this deal was that this camera came with 2 rolls of Fujifilm. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
