Still doing inventory and waiting for winter to really be over. Here in Georgia we always have a few weeks of 60-70 degree weather in January that is inevitably followed by a few more months of cold temperatures.<\/p>\n

As these cameras of mine (and me) get older and older there’s a realization that they aren’t ever going to make these types of technology ever again.<\/p>\n

Some of that early tech are the Sigma DSLRs, the ones featuring the unique Foveon X3 sensor. These cameras came out in the early 2000s and ended about 2010.<\/p>\n

I have several of these unique rendering DSLRs.\u00a0 I’ve written about my special and historic SD14 many times<\/a>, the SD15, and the SD10<\/a> before, but in doing all this inventory I thought about actually using the SD10 to take photos of some of my gear for posterity. Sure it “only” has 3 Megapixels, but that’s plenty for my blog.\u00a0 By viewing the resulting images, hopefully everyone can see the rendering and detail that is different than my normal Nikon pop+vibrant product shots.\u00a0 Things look more “real” in all their ability to capture details in a different way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I really like the SD10 and its color rendering.\u00a0 It’s always been so clean with a neutral color that honestly reminds me of 35mm slide film.<\/p>\n

I shot all these photos with a Sigma 18-55mm kit lens.\u00a0 I forgot about this lens as well and relegated it to the unused shelf because when I got it I noticed the lens had some really oily\/greasy elements on the inside.\u00a0 I figured for useless junk shots inside it would probably be fine.\u00a0 I actually like the haze and bloom it causes in highlights.<\/p>\n

The final form of this setup is pretty outrageous, with the battery grip with 8 AA batteries and the towering speedlight with another 4 AAs in it.\u00a0 Not very practical for my real events, but again this Sigma Foveon X3 is seriously the closest thing to mimicking a type of film.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
