Just doing this quick post for my own learning purposes.\u00a0 So here are some image samples comparing two Sony A7 cameras, one with the Minolta 50mm f\/1.4 and Sony adapter, the other with a Canon EF 50mm f\/1.2L with Sigma adapter.<\/p>\n

The Canon 50mm is obviously meant for my R cameras and DSLRs since it’s such a specific wedding and portrait tool, but sometimes I like to mount this and other Canon lenses to get access to the Sony sensor, which is the same the tech that’s in the Nikon D600\/800 series of cameras.\u00a0 Recovering shadow detail in Nikon\/Sony raw files is much easier than with Canon, which is tuned in a prettier more usable way.<\/p>\n

The Minolta 50mm, well I got it for a screaming bargain of $4, and it’s one of several lenses from that era that still produce great images in the modern era. (If you haven’t already read, here’s the my post on the LA-EA4 adapter with various lenses<\/a>)<\/p>\n

I actually like vignetting in my photos and think the Minolta adds a pretty natural one.<\/p>\n

Here are some examples of the flaring you can get with strong light sources (like a bare Arri 150w).\u00a0 I think the Canon looks very nice wide open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Any old 50mm is a great purchase and good starting teacher for learning photography.\u00a0 Including the Nikon 18.5mm f\/1.8 on 1 series that I always use to shoot my product shots!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
