{"id":1035,"date":"2008-08-18T12:12:49","date_gmt":"2008-08-18T17:12:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.b-vong.com\/journal\/?p=1035"},"modified":"2011-08-22T15:51:08","modified_gmt":"2011-08-22T19:51:08","slug":"national-regulatory-agency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.b-vong.com\/journal\/national-regulatory-agency\/","title":{"rendered":"National Regulatory Agency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The latest fad with digital photography is geotagging.\u00a0 With simple software and hardware you can\u00a0pinpoint exactly where and when you were on planet Earth,\u00a0as you threw up gang signs in front of some far off location to impress your friends on the social networking sites.<\/p>\n<p>It was quite distressing to see the markers loaded up in Google Earth.\u00a0 The red dots aren&#8217;t landscape photos, but tagged spots representing bombing mission data from just the U.S. Air Force.\u00a0 If more data were released from the other parties in the bombing campaign, I&#8217;m sure the screen would be bright red.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.b-vong.com\/journal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/bvong_pix_laos_nra.jpg\" alt=\"bvong_pix_laos_nra.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Millions upon millions of ordnance was dropped on Laos in the late &#8217;60&#8217;s and early &#8217;70&#8217;s.\u00a0 (One of the above photos is just from one province in Laos)\u00a0 A large portion never detonated and still contaminate the land, where people rely on subsistence farming to survive.\u00a0 At the current removal rate and funding, it would take <strong>thousands<\/strong> of years to clear them all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The latest fad with digital photography is geotagging.\u00a0 With simple software and hardware you can\u00a0pinpoint exactly where and when you were on planet Earth,\u00a0as you threw up gang signs in front of some far off location to impress your friends on the social networking sites.
