Figure Drawing – 5-12-2010 – Atlanta Artists Center

Evening started off with some 1 minute poses…

This one was a 30 minute pose…

There was a mirror above the model, which made for an interesting angle…

This was an hour long pose for the rest of the evening…

Since there was more time I had the opportunity to use my two-charcoal technique…
If you notice my main drawing pencils I sharpen on both ends, saves time when one breaks…

Figure drawing is a nice break from photos…in this arena it doesn’t matter if you’re young or old, the skill and vision you bring is your own, and evident on the page, not tied to a particular brand.  I’ve always sat on the floor when I draw (in fact, at home I also sit on the floor when I eat).  There’s rarely anyone else in art class that does it, everybody’s either at a table or easel, which I find to be constricting.  It’s a little like photography, knowing where to stand, not being locked into a bad angle.
